Protect Your Vehicle From Winter

Harsh winter weather can wreak havoc on not only the mechanical functioning of your vehicle, but the exterior too. Dirt, road salt, snow and ice can all damage your vehicle’s paintwork and reduce your vehicle’s value, so it’s a good idea to get knowledgeable about how you can shield your motor from the harsh elements. Here are a few simple ways that you can protect your vehicle from snow and ice this winter.

Paint Protector

Road salt that’s used to de-ice roads can also strip the paint off your vehicle. To avoid this, apply a good quality wax and sealant to the exterior, which will act as body armour for your vehicle and prevent dirt and salt from eating away at the paint.

Windshield Cover

A windshield cover is a great investment as it blocks frosty and icy build-ups on your vehicle. A cover helps to protect the glass from the freezing elements, and it eliminates the need to scrape your vehicle in the morning, thus saving you time and effort.

No-Scuff Snow Remover

When we find snow and ice stuck to our vehicle in the morning, our immediate reaction is to grab the sharpest thing we can find – often a shovel – to scrape it all off. However, even plastic shovels have sharp edges that can really damage your vehicle and often leave deep scratches and gouges. Instead, invest in a no-scuff de-icer that is designed to push snow off your vehicle without scratching or scuffing the surface and damaging the exterior.

De-Icer & Antifreeze

It’s a good idea to add an antifreeze agent to your windshield wash to help keep it clean and frost free. Antifreeze can withstand freezing temperatures and prevents your windshield fluid from freezing up. It’s also useful to have some de-icer spray at hand if you need to speed up the removal of ice and frost. When defrosting your windshield, avoid pouring boiling hot water onto the glass as the sudden change in temperature can actually cause it to crack and shatter.
